What is a Top Tether?

Home / Store / What is a Top Tether?

A top tether is a piece of material (webbing) with a clip normally integrated into the child's car seat. The top tether attaches to an anchorage point normally located on the back of the vehicle, or in the boot area. Vehicle manufacturers' handbooks will detail the location if a top tether point is installed.

The tether strap plays a part in absorbing the forces of an impact. It also helps limit additional movement and rotation of the child restraint. Top tethers feature a green indicator that is clearly visible when the tether is pulled tight.
